Jane Jacobs Medal – Ian Marvy
The Jane Jacobs Medal is awarded by the Rockefeller Foundation every year to leading urbanists whose work embodies the values and methods introduced by the great scholar and West Village resident. Ian Marvy started Added Value in Red Hook before “urban farming” was even a familiar movement. It is now a flourishing 3-acre farm and community hub. With this project we were able to, once again, explore one of our favorite neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and be inspired by a person’s commitment to a neighborhood and its remarkable transformation.
Jane Jacobs Medal honoree Bette Midler is featured in the other film we created for this project.
